It is an undeniable fact that flying on an airplane is one of the most boring experiences there is. In addition to the discomfort of being crammed into tiny seats next to a bunch of strangers, there’s really not much to do. You can crane your neck to try to peek out a window, but that loses its appeal fairly quickly. Maybe try to strike up a conversation with the person sitting next to you, but good luck keeping that going for hours. One of the best things you can do to keep the cabin fever at bay is to bring some sort of music to listen to. Not only is music enjoyable in its own right, but it also helps drown out the noises around you. The roar of the jets won’t be so terrible and you will almost be able to ignore that screaming baby that just won’t stop. So grab your favorite music, load it up on your mp3 player or phone, or CD player if you’re old school, and enjoy.

Another way to pass the time on poker planes that works for some people is reading a good book. If you enjoy reading, then you’ll be able to get a lot of it done while sitting on a plane for hours on end. However, not everyone enjoys reading, and some people who do find themselves getting air sick if they try to do it on a plane. Bring a book or two with you, but have a backup plan as well.

Watching movies is another very good way to get through an air plane flight. You can bring your own to watch if you’re picky, or you can take advantage of the in-flight movies if you’re lucky enough to be on a plane that has them. Many of the newer planes have a fairly decent selection for you to go through, so you should be able to stay occupied for a while. It’s a good idea to bring your own headphones as the ones you can buy on the plane tend to be fairly terrible.

If your plane is new enough to have a whole interactive interface, then there are a number of ways to keep yourself entertained. Playing poker on the plane is one of the best ways. The system tends to be setup so that you can play against either the computer or other passengers. It is quite enjoyable to outplay everyone else on the poker planes and put your seat in the high score bracket.

You can also kill some time with the touch screen interfaces by playing the variety of other games they have or watching TV. It may be a bit outdated, but it’s better than nothing. As long as you’re willing to be a bit resourceful, you can make it through even the longest flights without going insane by the time you land.
